As long as our natural attributes ( pride, greed and desires for power and sex ) don’t disturb us, as long we are not ashamed of them and don’t understand that they are in fact the barrier between us and the spiritual progress, these attributes will not perform the task for which they were created. There is no choice but to be ashamed of what we have inside and understand that until a force comes from above that enables us to be owners of our own desires we will not be happy. The important thing is to direct our desires in the right direction. There is not a single negative attribute in us, only the way they are used can be negative.
Since man is the height of nature’s creation, all other parts of nature (the still, vegetative, and animate) depend on him. Through man’s correction, all parts of nature, the entire universe will rise to its initial, perfect level, in complete unity with the Creator.
According to the plan of the Creator, the entire universe must reach this state, and the time allocated for the correction is limited. What makes our time special is that along with the escalating crisis, a window of opportunity for change is now opening.
If we honestly examine our lives, we will discover that all that remains of everything we have done so far are memories. We chase pleasures that seem to cross our path, but as soon as we obtain them, they slip between our fingers.
When we are in kindergarten, we want to be in school. We think of it as such a fun place to be, where older kids “have a great time” and learn new and exciting things. But once we get to school, we can’t wait to get to high school. At high school, the new craze is college, and in college, it is a successful career. The next phase always seems better and more appealing. But is it really so?
Where do we perceive? What is around me, and who am I? Can I exit from inside me and look at myself and all other people from outside? Can I change my sense organs: take out an eye, ear, etc, change something? Yes or no? Who am I and what is the world surrounding me?
From outside, there is only one, single, infinite even Light, and we exist in it.
I do not feel that Surrounding Light. I do not perceive it. I feel the difference between the Light and me. My task is to come the point when the Light and I are in the state of complete balance, meaning complete similarity. Coming closer to this similarity means to ascend by the spiritual degrees.
A mountain climber suddenly slips while climbing a hill. At the last second he manages to grab the cliff and hangs on, holding onto it with one hand. So he is begging the Creator “Help me”, and the Creator tells him “I will help you, just let go. What are you afraid of ? I will help you, you are in My hands”.
How can a person replace his mind when he knows by all reason that he will fall if he releases his hand? How can he replace his mind with the Creator’s mind that is saying, “Let go. You are asking me – here is My advice. You called Me for help – I came for you. Let go!” How can I let go before I receive help from the Creator in a different way, egoistically real for me? Where can I find the power to replace my mind with the mind of the Higher? He is called a Higher mind because he is opposite to my level. He is a greater bestowal; there is a gap between my animal attributes and His attributes.
I will not be able to absorb the Higher mind directly. This is why I need an environment, meaning that if I find a good environment, then my thoughts and actions will automatically become the same as the ones adopted in that environment.
“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth” refers to making of two properties: egoism and altruism. The egoistic property of “earth” gets corrected with the help of altruistic property of “heaven”. The correction process consists of seven states, called “seven days of creation”. Naturally, this is a conditional name. It has nothing to do with the seven days on earth; it does not refer to either day and night or light and darkness on earth. Rather, it refers to the spiritual states and spiritual sensations of a person who passes through these stages of correction. It talks about the system in which one’s soul is corrected while existing at the level called “earth”.
