Can a person really say when he deserves a reward and when – a punishment? For instance, a piece of a balcony falls down, killing a man passing by; a natural disaster occurs, etc. Is there anyone we should blame or punish? Or, let’s say, a child breaks something. We can punish or even beat him, but we will discipline a child according to our animal perception of reward and punishment, that is, will transfer our perception and attitude to him. That’s how it was in Russia. If one did not acknowledge the communists they could even kill him. They had established their law and their justice, their understanding of good and bad. But indeed, there must be a direct objective system of reward and punishment, not for the benefit of this system’s authors, but for the benefit of its observers.
When we do something bad to someone else we do it only to get something for ourselves because of our lack of something. If this feeling of wanting something for ourselves wouldn’t appear all the time in animals and people – things would be different. The root cause for all the evil in the world would disappear. We think of the Creator as something absolutely whole and complete. The absence of his wish “to get, to gain” brings about the total lack of any kind of evil. For us, He appears as an entirely good entity – we get the same feeling at times, during moments of happiness, fulfillment, when we lack nothing at all! All that we feel comes from the Creator. However, does this mean that all of his creations should feel only what is kind and what is good..
It is possible that a person will possess fantastic inherent intellectual and analysis abilities, but if he gets everything in life without any effort, his mind will not develop, but regress. That is why it is not worth it to be so envious of rich people who live completely like beasts, because that society is on a spiritual decline. The history of people constantly proves the efficiency of the constant search of a way to exist under impossible conditions.
As kids we ask ourselves: “What are we living for?”, but later on hormones ignited by adolescence suppress this question and the will to discover the meaning and the source of life. Our sexual and intellectual aspirations lead us away from the solution to this problem. Then it arises again to disturb us. Those, who can’t fill the emptiness and demand an urgent answer to that question, find Kabbalah or, rather, are led to it from above: the time of filling the human soul comes.
In the words of Michael Laitman, “It is beyond human comprehension to understand the essence of such spiritual qualities as total altruism and love. This is for the simple reason that human beings cannot comprehend how such feelings can exist at all, as everyone seemingly requires an incentive to perform any act; without some personal gain, people are not prepared to extend themselves. That is why a quality such as altruism can only be imparted to a person from Above, and only those who have experienced it can understand it.”

There is a kind of barrier between the spiritual reality and the corporeal reality. We cannot see the Forces behind this world until we cross the barrier, but these Forces depict the picture of the world within us in much the same way electric vectors create images on the TV or computer screen. When we look at the screen, we see a colorful, three-dimensional picture, but it is really nothing but a combination of electrical forces that can be processed, transferred, and stored.
The truth is that we, too, exist in a similar picture, except that the screen is within us.
