In order to explain and to evoke the creature to understand and to bring it to sense what is included in the Thought of Creation (what the creature is in when it was created), for that purpose the Creator had to bring down a sequence of concealments on the creature.
This order of concealments and revelations prepare the creature to feel and to understand what is included in the Thought of Creation and where the creature is so it would not be like a miserable, little one, who doesn’t feel and doesn’t understand what the Creator had done for it.
Why is our life so irrational? The answer is pretty simple. There are many systems in the universe that exist, function, develop and perfect themselves without our intervention. For example, now I see something and within me all sorts of processes are taking place, various wisely built systems are at work. I’m not even aware of them; they are not accessible to my comprehension; we cannot investigate, trigger them ourselves, control or govern them. The body lives.
Similarly, there have to be multiple systems outside and inside of a human being that would function both in human and spiritual aspects. They have to be inaccessible to a person and he should not deal with them. He has to work, be a head of a family and take care of various things. Thanks to this, he also undergoes correction, without knowing how.
It is our generation that Baal HaSulam calls “the Last Generation” – the generation of Mashiach. What does “the Last Generation” mean? It means that there is no use expecting any miracles. We must realize and implement all of the Kabbalists’ instructions right now. For time is also a factor. If not today, then in a day or two, conditions will become even worse, the difference of potentials between us and the Thought of Creation will increase, and as a result we will have to endure even more terrible sufferings, more pain. That’s why it is worthwhile to hurry up! All the tragedies which have happened in our days occurred only due to the fact that we have misunderstood the purpose of our existence.
The basis of human nature is egoism. This is hardly a secret. In fact, the Bible acknowledges this condition almost at the very beginning – “man’s heart is evil from his youth” – and Kabbalists explain that the evil inclination is our egoism. The question this brings to mind is: “If egoism is so bad, why did the Creator place it in us and make us evil from our youth?” Practically every religion and every teaching tackles the challenge of egoism. Religions in general tell us to suppress it, and Eastern philosophies tell us that we need to diminish it.
These modes of coping with the human inclination toward egoism worked well for many years. But today, our egoism is soaring to unprecedented levels, and for many people, the familiar ways of coping with it just don’t seem to work.
We see that more and more people in the world are unable to find fulfillment. Once, we thought of ourselves as making great leaps forward, believing we were making substantial progress, but now we appear to be facing some kind of a wall.
Humanity seems to be plunging into depression, suicide and drugs abound, and people are trying to disengage themselves from the world, and suppress their feelings. Terrorism and a rapid upsurge in natural disasters are symptoms of a global crisis, and all these states are leading humanity to one fundamental question: “What is the meaning of life?”
The Creator is a force; it is not something that is wise. It’s just a force that governs me. Because I realize that it has created me, I call it the Creator. This is not something that religion ascribes to the Creator or the God – this is absolutely not true. The Creator is something that exists at the higher level than me, just a governing force and that’s all.
Moreover, if I am at a certain level and begin to ascend, then the force that is higher in relation to me, the force in the World of Asiya that I perceive as the supreme is called the Creator. After I ascend, after I reach the level of former Creator, then I call the Creator the next stage above me.
